Ibadan, Oyo State based Fuji music star, Alhaji Taye Akande Adebisi, who is popularly known as Taye Currency is an exceptional achiever as far as Fuji music industry is concerned in Nigeria. And that is not because he has built a very big house where he lives in Ibadan, or because he drives different choice cars. Other Fuji music stars have done that too. And it is not even because he has taken his brand of Fuji music to different countries of the world including the United States of America and United Kingdom. Most of the other stars in the industry have attained that feat too.
But there are at least 3 things that Taye Currency has, apparently, achieved above other Fuji music stars. And one of the 3 things can be taken from a video of the Fuji music star that was posted online few days ago in which he was celebrating one of his band members named Wasiu, who started higher institution in his band and went all the way to become a graduate. And Wasiu did not only become a graduate, he has also served the nation as a Youth Corps member. He did so in Bayelsa State. And the young man otherwise called Wasiu Jazz Man, because he plays Jazz in Taye Currency’s band could not hide his happiness and gratitude, in the video of him and his boss, Taye Currency, that was posted.
As a matter of fact, Wasiu Jazz Man was so happy after finishing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), that he presented Taye Currency with a portrait carrying the picture of the boss, and himself in a top corner, to show his gratitude. Though, it is not that, there are not band members who have one Diploma Certificate or the other in other Fuji music stars’ bands, but Taye Currency band man, Wasiu Jazz Man, is about the first on record in terms of the one who started his journey into becoming a graduate right from the band, and went all the way to do NYSC. And, now he has future fully in his hands as a full fledged graduate.
The second exceptional thing Taye Currency has done amongst the Fuji music stars is producing an Honourable Member of State House of Assembly from his children. Taye Currency at below 50 years, his first born, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi, is a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, representing Ibadan South-West 1 Constituency. And Taye Currency is so proud of that sterling achievement that, he has added “Baba Honourable” (The Father to the Honourable) to his nicknames, as a Fuji artiste. Though, there might have been one or two other Fuji stars whose children might have gone into politics too, but none on record, has produced a child occupying an elective position as high as being a member of a House of Assembly.
The third exceptional thing Taye Currency has done as a Fuji music star is that, he is also serving as a Senior Adviser to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Culture and Tourism. So, as a Fuji artiste, he is also an S.A. to the Governor of his state. And that is no mean feat, as no other Fuji music star can boast of such a political appointment. Therefore, on all the three fronts enumerated in this narrative, Taye Currency has an edge above other Fuji music stars in the country.
