How Tunde Tilapia went from being a bus conductor, a plantain seller to becoming a Nollywood actor

Babatunde Owokoniran also known as Tunde Tilapia is famous for his roles in Yoruba movies, he was born in Mushin but hails from Ogun state.

Tunde was born into a polygamous home, after he lost his mother his education was put on hold because his father could not afford to send him to school. He dropped out of school to fend for himself, he joined the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ojuelegba to earn a living.

Then he proceeded to become a bus conductor, the means of income could only feed and at least clothes him but could not provide shelter over his head so he slept under the bridge or inside the bus, he quit after he argued with his driver.

He was jobless and had to look for another means of income, he started as a plantain seller, the business was better than his former work. With his savings, he decided to go to the Ojuwoye market in Mushin to buy plantain in large quantities and then resell at another market or to people in small quantities. On a fateful day, While selling plantain, Tunde met Odunlade Adekola at Mushin, on seeing the actor for the first time, he rushed to him, grabbed him and asked him to build his acting dreams.

Odunlade Adekola which he played well and since then he was been featured and seen in most of Adekola’s movies.

The former plantain seller decided to further his education, he gained admission into Lagos State University where he studied Industrial relations and personnel management and he graduated in the year 2010.

Babatunde got married to his America based girlfriend, Oluwatunmise Akinwinsola in 2016. They met during one of Tunmise’s visits to Nigeria and their relationship is blessed with two kids. The family are based in the United States of America

The talented actor attended New mainland children school and Ilupeju college, aside from being featured in both English and Yoruba movies he has also produced several movies.
