Media aide to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Moses Olafare says the monarch is still in love with his estranged wife, Prophetess Naomi Silekunola.
According to a palace source, the monarch sent the queen Christmas gifts hours before her divorce notice surfaced on social media.
“We were asked to package the Christmas gifts on Wednesday and it was sent in the afternoon to her. We sent the gifts before day two of the music programme in Lagos. Only for us to wake up and find the statement on divorce on social media. Something must definitely be wrong somewhere,” a national daily, The Punch, quotes the source as saying.
Confirming this, Olafare asserted that the Ooni still loves his wife, noting that the monarch wouldn’t have done such if he was intending on separating with her.
“I was aware that Kabiyesi was putting a special Christmas gift together for her. If he is not in love with her, he cannot be doing that. In fact, the Christmas gift has been delivered to her already,” he said.
Queen Silekunola on Thursday in a terse post on her Instagram handle declared that “I shall no longer be referred to as wife to the Ooni of Ife or as Queen of Ile-Ife but as the Queen of the people and mother of my adorable Prince.”
She alleged that the monarch has a picture he would love the world to see and perceive him as and another one which is his true self.
